    Developer Days 2010 is an event for all developers, architects and other IT specialists that would like to learn more about the Microsoft development platform. During the day a holistic overview of the technologies, products and approaches will be provided.

    Topics will include products such as .NET Framework, Silverlight, Windows Azure platform and services, IE8, Windows 7,  Visual Studio, and Expression Tools, data access and web development. For the project managers and team leaders we will also dive deep into Application Lifecycle Management and Team Foundation Server.

    The event will also feature short breakout sessions where attendees can focus more on the language and smart client enhancements or more on the User Experience for delivering the next generation of Rich Internet Applications (RIAs)

  2. Speaker Idol Competition

    Tech-Spark has the pleasure to announce a Speaker Idol Competition.

     Speaker Idol is an exciting and challenging event where Developers and IT Pros speak on topics of interest to them.

    The purpose of the Speaker Idol competition is to enable lesser known members of the technical community to be recognized for their talents and speaking abilities. 

    This is a very broad based competition and will include IT professionals, software developers, database administrators, architects, and anyone who has something to say about Microsoft technologies.

    Speakers should select a topic related to the Microsoft platform and which is of interest to them.

    Our goal is to find “diamonds in the rough” and future thought leaders and speaker that can enhance the local technical community.

    The event will be held on Thursday 11th February 2010 at 20:00 at Rookies Bar Bugibba.

    Those who would like to take part in the competition, please register your interest on spidol@tech-spark.com  by sending your name, contact details and the topic you would like to present, by Thursday 4th February 2010. Participation is limited to 10 on a first come basis so hurry up!

    Some cool prizes will be given to the winner, making participation worthwhile.

    Tech-Spark is pleased to invite you to an Chalk and Talk event on Wednesday 2nd December at Corinthia San George at 19:00.  We will have three speakers from Microsoft who will run some short demos and then open the floor for general questions and discussion. This will be an informal event where you will get a chance to get your technology questions answered.

     

    The topics that may be covered are:

    1)      Microsoft Office, Groove, Enterprise Search, SharePoint, Unified communications and related collaboration tools and S+S services.

    2)      Microsoft Windows Client,  Server System and Mobility Platform.

    3)      Security, PKI, Smart Cards, Digital Signatures, E-ID and Information Security.

    The speakers biography follow below:

     

    Bryan Bredehoeft

    Bryan  is the Product Solutions Manager for Microsoft Collaboration business in Central and Eastern Europe. He manages the collaboration products such Microsoft Office, Groove, Enterprise Search, and SharePoint 2007.

    Bryan has led many SharePoint-based implementations for Microsoft’s enterprise customers. He is also a subject matter expert on Microsoft’s S+S Strategies delivered via Microsoft Online.

    A 12 year veteran with Microsoft, he has served the company in marketing Microsoft’s Unified Communications products, Enterprise Sales, and Microsoft’s Consulting Services.

     

    Tony Krijnen

    Tony is a Technology Advisor in the Microsoft Platform Group in The Netherlands. In this job he is delivering technical presentations and demonstrations at tradeshows, events and partnersessions.

    Tony is 14 years with Microsoft now and has a broad knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Client & Server System, the Microsoft Office System and the Mobility platform.

    Tony has spoken previously at TechEd EMEA, TechEd South East Asia, TechEd Israel and at a variety of other conferences including Gartner, IDC and Microsoft IT Forum

     

    Ronny Bjones

    Ronny is working for Microsoft Corporate as security architect.  He has 26 years experience in ICT, 20 of those in security. Ronny started his career at Microsoft in 2002 within TwC. He is currently working in CATM.  Ronny published QuEST together with several industry specialists in the subject of electronic signatures.  The book is a comprehensive guide on how to implement Electronic Signatures solutions and can be downloaded from microsoft.com.  Ronny also co-authored “Best Practice for Applications using the electronic Identity Card”. Ronny oversees the whole areas of security but has a special interest in smart cards, PKI, Identity Metasystem, cryptography and digital signatures.  Ronny is a board member of EEMA, an organisation providing guidance on e-Business.

    Ronny is also member of the ISSE program committee. He is also member of the OASIS Security Conference program committee and the World-eID program committee. Since ‘89 he is active in the field of Information Security doing large projects for the European Central banks, Police forces, big financial institutes, European Commission, etc.  

  6. Windows Azure Special Event + Windows 2008 Core

    A Tech-Spark Special event on the 29th October, at 18:00 at STC Training.

    Luka Debeljak, who is the Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Technical Lead, will be giving talk on Windows Azure.

    Luka Debeljak is the Technical Lead in the regional HQ DPE team responsible for many of the CEE countries, where he is supporting strategic opportunities by technical guidance and delivery of presentations about newest technological and development concepts on Microsoft platform.

    He is interested in everything related to Microsoft development platform and tools and is lately focusing on Software + Services architectural concepts and subsequently on the Microsoft Azure platform. So far he has appeared on several regional conferences and also written many articles in different magazines.     George Thrasivoulou, MVP for Cyprus, will be giving a talk in Windows 2008 Core.

  7. First Tech-Spark meeting

    Our first meeting was held on the 7th of October, and we had a turnout of around 50 people.  The topics were  Windows 2008 and Hyper-V which was presented by Keith Tabone, Director at Clam Technologies, and UX design and tools which was presented by Wayne Zammit, Software Enginner at MITA.
